Srinagar, Sept 28: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) president, Sheikh Ashiq today said that the trade body has always been raising business-related issues of Kashmir with the concerned instead of doing any politics.
Addressing a press conference here which was more focused on replying to the accusations leveled against the KCC&I, its president said that it was focusing primarily on the greater good of the business sector.

“For the last some days, we have been accused that whenever our members meet the Prime Minister, we hatch some conspiracy against apple trade, which is completely wrong; instead, we have always raised the business issues of Kashmir with the Prime Minister,” he said.
He said that whatever the KCC&I has done so far is in front of people and that they spoke even when everyone else was “afraid” of coming to the front.
“Whatever work we have done so far, people know it. When Article 370 was abrogated in 2019, everyone was afraid to speak, but we still highlighted business issues; we made a business loss report and shared it with the government, and then the revival measures were taken as per the report,” he said.
On the elections of the Chamber, he said that the same has been stalled for some time now and that some progress will be seen on that front too.
“We have to represent trade at all levels; nothing can happen without it because it’s our primary responsibility and for the last three years they are fighting for the revival,” he said.
