2 drug peddlers booked under NDPS Act

UDHAMPUR, Sept 24: Udhampur Police today booked two notorious drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The arrested accused were identified as Umar Jaan son of Late Amar Din of Housing Colony Udhampur and Mohd Hanief son of Abdul Rashid of Chak Rakwalan. Both the accused persons were involved in drug peddling and supplying narcotic substances to local youth of District Udhampur, especially in Udhampur town.
On the directions of SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, dossiers of Umar Jaan and Abdul Hanief were prepared and sent for approval. Subsequently, the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, both the drug peddlers were detained under PIT NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, continuing its drive against drug abuse and illicit liquor, Udhampur Police also nabbed two bootleggers and recovered eight litres of hooch from their possession.
Team of Police Station Panchari, led by Insp Rakesh Kumar raided the house of accused namely Sansar Chand son of Jamitu Ram of Patyal Tehsil Moungri, who was preparing and selling hooch. Besides arresting the accused, Police also destroyed 40 litres of lahan. In this regard, a case FIR number 46/2022 U/S 48 (e) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Panchari.
In a similar case, team of Police Station Latti, led by Insp Vijay Kumar, arrested bootleggers Shotu Ram son of Badri Nath of Tandhar Chenani and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
