JAMMU, July 7: The inmates of Jagti township have expressed their grave concern over prevailing water scarcity in the township and said that even on the fasting day of Ashad Ashtami the water supply remained off.
In a joint statement the social activists Sunil Pandita and Vijay Koul said that despite the repeated pleas to the concerned authorities no attention is being paid to improve water supply in the camp and their plea of constructing bore wells in the township has not been conceded by the authorities despite the fact that the water supply scheme for Jagti has totally failed.
They also accused the Relief authorities of deliberately delaying the handing over the water supply for the township to Jalshakti Department due to which the problems of camp inmates have compounded day by day.
They also showed grave resentment over non disbursement of ration to inmates of the township for last two months and said that the people solely dependent on relief are facing hardships due to non availability of ration on the ration depots and the Relief authorities are unable to settle the issue. They warned agitation in case the issue was not settled immediately.
