JAMMU, Sept 13: The unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS doctors of Jammu region held a protest demonstration in front of the Press Club, here today, and demanded their absorption in the Government jobs.
Scores of doctors under the banner of “Unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS Doctors’ Association” held a protest demonstration in front of the Press Club condemning the negligent attitude of the Government towards them. The protest was led by Dr Shri Kant and Dr Sahil Pandoh.
The doctors holding banners in their hands raised slogans for their absorption in the Government jobs.
Addressing the protesting doctors, Shri Kant alleged that the Government has no employment policy for the Ayurvedic ISM doctors and as a result the strength of unemployed BAMS doctors is growing day by day.
Dr Sahil Pandoh, demanded the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to intervene into the matter personally so that the unemployment Ayurvedic doctors may be engaged in Government jobs.
Dr Sahil condemned the Government for absorbing the Unani doctors from the Kashmir region against the posts of the Ayurvedic doctors.
All dispensaries are lying vacant without doctors and the patients are suffering while the doctors are roaming frustrated being unemployed despite owning so many degrees, he added.
The protesting doctors threatened to intensify their agitation against the Government if they were not absorbed in the Government jobs. They appealed all the unemployed Ayurvedic doctors to unite for their cause.
