NAGROTA Sept 13: Taking Bhartiya Janata Party head on for igniting communal passions,  Devender Singh Rana on Friday cautioned people to maintain vigil as its command has gone into the hands of hardcore communalists whose hands are soaked with the blood of innocents.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Tanda, Dammi and Digyali villages in Nagrota, Mr Rana referred to the developments taking place in the BJP said that earlier the party used to implement its agenda clandestinely and now they are openly preaching what they stand for to polarize the situation.
He vowed that National Conference will not allow the machinations of the communal parties like BJP or disruptive PDP to succeed in dividing the people in a state like Jammu and Kashmir and said: “We will stand like a rock and foil all their attempts to disturb peace”.
Mr Rana said that BJP has started parroting the slogans of ‘minorities and religion in danger’, which is its time tested anthem ahead of the elections. He said there is no danger either to religion or to minorities but the slogan is just a hoax which BJP is playing up to brighten its electoral fortunes. The Provincial President said that BJP and PDP have developed a vested interest in putting Jammu and Kashmir on boil with an eye on elections. Discord between various sections of society serves the interests of the two parties, which have been working for a common cause to polarize the situation in order to derive political mileage.
“BJP and PDP remain on look out for issues to exploit and aggravate these to the hilt to create mistrust and fear psychosis among the people”, he said and referred to their role in recent unfortunate incidents in Kishtwar.
“BJP became a willing tool at the hands of other interested elements and when passions flared up its central leaders plunged into the murkier waters to prolong the tension as part of larger game plan”, Mr Rana said.
He related simultaneous reaction over the incidents by Narendra Modi in Hyderabad, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh and others in Delhi besides Arun Jaitley’s impromptu visit to Jammu as part of the game-plan to vitiate the situation and garner maximum political advantage from the disturbed condition in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, former legislator and senior party leader Mr Brij Mohan Sharma warned BJP against playing the communal card, saying it may boomerang with people giving the party a befitting reply in the elections. He wondered over raking up all sort of issues ahead of the elections and carrying out Yatras to spread hate.
Mr Rana and Mr Sharma spelled out the timely initiative taken by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in defusing the situation that had potential to spread in other areas, given the hard pursuit of BJP. “The people have and will foil all sinister machinations of BJP and contribute in building an atmosphere where people of all the faiths live in complete harmony and peace”, they maintained.
Later the Provincial President laid foundation stone of Common Facility Centre at Nagrota.
