BJP sensitive towards PoJK refugees: Suri

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri today said that the pain and agony which the displaced persons of 1947’s bloody partition had suffered can never be described in words, yet the brave hearts kept flame of love for their motherland burning till date and now their next generation intends to see their ancestral homes in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in their lifetime to fulfil the desires of their elders.
Suri said, this was for the first time in the history of J&K that displaced persons and their kins from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) converged in Jammu to pay tributes to the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives during invasion by Pakistan army in the guise of tribals. The ‘Punya Bhoomi Samarn Smaroh, attended by displaced persons from PoJK as well as other parts of the country established that the pains and scars of partition have not been healed yet.
The BJP leader said that no political outfit in India ever cared to help these people or give them their due rights. However, the BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only disbursed financial compensation to the displaced persons but also provided voting rights to those in J&K by abrogating Article 370 and reseved seats for them in the Legislative Assembly.
These historic decisions, he said, have strengthened the faith of displaced people in the BJP Government, which is committed to restore their dignity and give them their due rights.
