PUNE, May 9: Former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar today said that NGO ‘Sarhad” led by Sanjay Nahar has given hope to the terror-hit people, including women, children and farmers in Kashmir.
Pawar said Sanjay Nahar and his volunteers have been doing good work in Punjab, Northeast and Kashmir. The NCP supremo said Sanjay Nahar has worked for brotherhood among people from these states and the rest of the country. He always has India’s unity and integrity in mind and works towards strengthening it, he added.
“The Kashmiri youth, who felt alienated, have been brought in the mainstream by the Sarhad. The NGO has brought poor, orphaned children from Kashmir to Pune and educated them,” Pawar said while speaking at the function organized by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) as a part of the three-day mega trade summit JITO Connect 2022, including a global conference and a trade fair.
The former Union Minister said if members of the Jain community decide, they can lessen the sufferings of people in Kashmir. “The Adanis, the Jains can think of setting up agro-processing units there and generate jobs for the youth and save them from taking a wrong path. Sarhad can take the lead to make farmers from Kashmir self-reliant, he asserted.
“The Jains have made immense contribution to the nation building. The names that immediately come to my mind are Jain Irrigation’s Bhavarlal Jain, my friend Gautam Adani and Sanjay Nahar,” he added.
The Pride of Pune Awards were distributed on the occasion and Sanjay Nahar was honoured for his extraordinary work in social sector.
