Traders opposed to FDI

TIRUCHIRAPALLI, Aug 26: President of Confederation of Tamilnadu traders Associations Vikramaraja has strongly condemned Union Government’s decision to allow FDI in multi-brand retail alleging that it would affect the livelihood of the trading community across the country.
Addressing the ‘Muperumvizha’ celeberations of the Tiruvanaikovil Traders association here last night, he also pointed out that about 20 lakh traders in Tamil Nadu would be affected due to the Union Government’s decision. The Union government was trying to destroy the livelihood of trading  community, he also charged.
He said the confederation was also opposed to the centre’s   proposed Food Safety and Standards Act.
He said the Confederation would take out a rally in Chennai on November 19 to protest against the Union Government’s decision to allow FDI in multi-brand retail and against the Food Safety and Standards Act.
