Youth dies of COVID, 118 test +ve in Jammu; 79 cases in Kashmir

Ladakh reports 54 positives

JAMMU, Feb 18: A youth, who was seriously injured in a road accident, succumbed to injuries and COVID-19 and 118 fresh cases were reported in Jammu division while Kashmir recorded 79 new positives today.
The Union Territory of Ladakh registered 54 new cases.
A 25-year-old youth from Surankote in Poonch district, who was suffering from polytrauma and head injuries after a road accident, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today. He tested positive for the virus.
Fresh COVID death has taken the toll in Jammu region to 2324 and Poonch district to 110.
Among 118 cases in Jammu division, highest 42 were reported from Doda district, 41 in Jammu, 12 Ramban, 10 Kathua, five Reasi, four Poonch and one each in Udhampur, Rajouri, Samba and Kishtwar districts.
As against 118 new cases today, 269 persons recovered from the virus reducing number of active positive cases in Jammu division to 1307.
Jammu region now has 1,65,258 Corona cases. Out of them, 1,61,627 have recovered from the virus while there were 2324 casualties.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 54 new COVID positive cases including 46 in Leh district and eight in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 416 Corona cases—333 in Leh and 83 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 79 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 30 from Srinagar, 20 from Baramulla, 12 from Budgam, 5 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 6 from Bandipora, 1 from Ganderbal and 3 from Kulgam.
With the fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 286,731 including 283,019 recoveries and 2,422 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,597 including 1,290 from Kashmir division.
With 577 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 444,646 which is 98.38 percent of the total cases.
