Army flags off farmers’ tour

SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Army today flagged off Baramulla farmers’ awareness tour to expose them to the farming activities and methodology being adopted by the farmers of agricultural rich States of Punjab and Haryana.
An Army spokesman said that the tour will also educate the farmers about the latest techniques in the field of dairy by providing them an interactive platform with scientists and professors in the Agriculture universities and NDRI (National Dairy Research Institute) at Karnal.
During the tour the farmers will be visiting a number of interesting places in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Ambala and Jammu. The itinerary includes visit to Gurunanak Dev University, Golden temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah border, Maharja Ranjit Singh Museum, Verka Dairy, Kalpana Chawala Planetarium, Nau Gaja Peer and many other interesting places.
The spokesman said the tour, organised by 10 sector Rashtriya Rifles’s counter insurgency Kilo Force, was flagged off by Colonel Saurabh Saklani, Commanding Officer 52 Rashtriya Rifles at Uplona.
