Amnesty scheme for power consumers

JAMMU, Jan 14: Apni Trade Union president, Aijaz Kazmi has appealed to the Government to announce amnesty scheme for power consumers in J&K that includes general public, small traders, Shikara and House Boat owners etc so that these people may get some relief in the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
In a handout, Kazmi stated that people in J&K are being harassed by PDD with huge electricity bills especially when many people have lost their earning because of COVID-19 pandemic.
“The consumers are being compelled to pay their bills despite knowing the financial condition in the wake of ongoing COVID-19 situation,” he maintained adding that the Government should review the situation and announce amnesty scheme for certain people so that they are not put to harassment as the earning capacity of people has reduced as many have lost their business and jobs.
