NOWSHERA, Dec 7: The people from Rajal area of Nowshera led by three Sarpanches today held protest and blocked Jammu-Poonch road for about half an hour.
Reports said that at around 2 pm, the villagers led by Sarpanch Hanjana, Th Inderjeet Singh, Sarpanch Rajal- A Mohan Sharma and Sarpanch Rajal- B, Shubham Lakhan Pal staged protest at Rajal on Jammu- Rajouri-Poonch highway and blocked the road against the transfer of SHO Nowshera Insp Pankaj Sharma from Rajouri-Poonch Range to Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range demanding his retention being an honest officer.
During protest, the locals appreciated the working of SHO Nowshera during his 8-9 months tenure. They stated that said officer made examplery achievement in controlling drugs and bovine smuggling, theft cases, illegal mining, illicit liquor and other aspects of crime. They demanded two years tenure of said officer as SHO Nowshera. They sought intervention of IGP and DIG Rajouri into the matter. After protesting for about thirty minutes on busy road they dispersed.
