MBBS first-year students not attending classes: GMC

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: The Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has issued an explanation to the first year MBBS students who have been found not attending theory and practical classes.
In a notice that has been issued-a copy of which has also been sent to the parents of the students-GMC has said that it has been found the students are not attending theory and practical classes which is gross negligence on their part towards the studies.
“You are directed to explain as and why disciplinary action is not initiated against you as warranted under relevant statutes governing MBBS course,” the explanation reads.
It said that the reply to the explanation should reach within 48 hours from the date of issue of the notice through the concerned Head of the Department.
“Furthermore, Parents/Guardians of all the First year MBBS students (Batch 2020) are informed that the behaviour of their wards towards the studies is unsatisfactory,” reads the notice.
The explanation has noted that as per the Kashmir University statutes a student should have 75% of attendance in theory and 80% in practical/clinical as eligibility to appear for the examination in that subject.
