Ayurvedic Doctors highlight demands

JAMMU, July 15: All Jammu and Kashmir Ayurvedic Congress has expressed deep concern over the policy of inertia and stagnation prevailing in the Directorate of Indian System of Medicine despite having separate existence since 1987.
A meeting of the Congress was held here today under the chairmanship of its senior vice-president Dr B D Gupta for discussing various issues confronting the Ayurvedic Doctors and response of the Minister for Health Shabir Ahmed Khan over the same.
The meet was apprised that  Shabir Khan, during a recent meeting with the AJKAC delegation, had assured all necessary initiatives to streamline AYUSH Department and settle long pending demands concerning rank and file of Ayurvedic professionals in the State.
The meet also highlighted demands, which included immediate bifurcation of present State level directorate and establishment of provincial Directorates, sanction of administrative staff for newly created districts, regularization of all newly opened Dispensaries, which are being managed so far on internal arrangement basis, provision of necessary technical staff for pioneer curative schemes like Panchkarma and Khyar Sutra at Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, sanction for posts of B grade specialists at District level and immediate election for the Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Medicine under the relevant clause of J&K Ayurvedic Unani Practioner Act 1959.
Those who attended the meeting, included Dr H N Patwari, Dr T R Gupta, Dr B R Sharma, Dr Ashok Gupta, Dr O P Gupta and Dr Prabhakar.
