KATHUA, July 15: One person was killed while three others were seriously injured in a road accident at Barwal More, near here late last night.
According to police, a Maruti car bearing number HR 16E4841 which was on its way from Bari Brahmana in Samba district to Madhopur in Punjab was hit by an unknown vehicle from behind at Barwal More with such a force that the car skidded 60 feet off the road in bushes.
Four people were traveling in the car which was driven by Balwinder Singh.
One person died on spot while the three fell in an unconscious situation in the bushes. They remained in the buses for entire night as no body noticed the accident during the night. In the morning when the passers by heard the screams of some of the injured who had regained the consciousness till then. They rushed to the spot and informed the Kathua Police. The police shifted them to District Hospital Kathua where doctors declared one as brought dead while other three are undergoing treatment and their condition is stated to be serious.
The Kathua police has registered a case and the body of Gagan Singh was handed over to his family members for last rites after postmortem.
Meanwhile people of Kathua have expressed their serious concern over the increasing road accidents on Jammu- Pathankote National Highway.
