Various educational institutions celebrate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

JAMMU, Oct 1: Various educational institutions celebrated birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
NSS unit of Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu organized series of events to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. A Swacchta Abhiyan was observed in the college premises and thereafter Rangoli Competition and Cultural Performances were conducted.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal of College said, “nowadays it is very important to uplift the values and ideas of Gandhi among all the students as well as teachers”. Prof Neelam Dhar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Prof K K Mangotra, Dr Shushma Bala, Prof Neeraj Verma, Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Seema Kumari, Prof Vinay Lata and Prof Anuradha Choudhary were also present at the event.
The program was adroitly conducted by Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Programme Officer along with NSS volunteers.
Meanwhile, MEd students organized an online patriotic song competition. The winners of the event were Richa Anand and Anjali (Ist Prize), Palak Gandotra (2nd Prize) and Shakti Rani and Sahaj Sabbarwal (3rd Prize).
Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah organized a programme ‘Celebrating the Mahatma: Ek Kadam Swatchata Ki Aur’ on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. Dr Anuradha Pandoh, the Principal of the college, in her welcome address impressed upon the relevance of Gandhian ideas in present times. Many other programmes were organized. Prof Amit Kumar Sharma and Prof Sunil Kumar deliberated on Gandhian thoughts. The programme was compered by Prof Shivani Raina and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Shallu Rani.
The NSS unit of GDC Bani organized one day Cleanliness Drive under the supervision of Dr. Vishal Sharma Principal GDC Bani, Dr Ram Krishan NSS Programme Officer and Prof Sanjeev Verma, Assistant Prof in Mathematics to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.
NSS Unit and NCC Wing of GDC Khour celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A slogan writing competition on the theme “Clean India” was organized in which students of the college participated. The event was organized by NSS, Programme Officer, Prof. Gurvinder Kour and NCC Officer Prof Arun Sharma under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof. Rama Badyal. Best slogan was written by Bharti Devi, Semester 5th.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by NSS, Red-Ribbon Club and NCC on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahaotsav in the college, The programme began with welcome address by Dr Mohan Singh Pathania, Principal of the college. On this occasion the prize distribution function was organised to facilitate the winners and participants who participated in various activities.
In commemoration with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NCC and NSS Units in collaboration with Department of Sociology of the GDC Sunderbani celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A cleanliness drive and poster making competition was organized on the theme “Gandhi’s Philosophy on Non- Violence and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
Cultural and Literary Committee of the Government PG College Rajouri in association with NSS and NCC Units organized a symposium on the topic “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in Present Era” in order to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the event.
To commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, NSS unit of GDC, Basohli organized a slogan writing competition on the theme “Swachh Paryavaran, Swasth Jeevan”. The event was systematized under the patronage of the college Principal, Dr Nidhi Kotwal and supervised by Dr. Shiv Kumar, Programme Officer, NSS unit of the college.
The MEd Section and Cultural Club of Government College of Education, Jammu jointly organized an Online Patriotic Song Competition through Google Meet. The participants who presented patriotic songs were from different institutions. Youngsters of different age groups participated enthusiastically in the program. Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the college, in her address said that Mahatma Gandhi is the epitome of peace, tolerance and co-existence and he reflects the true fabric of the Indian society, as Indians we need to follow his ideals. Dr Rajinder Kour, MEd Coordinator also spoke on the occasion.
To celebrate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Cultural Committee in collaboration with Psychological Counselling Cell of GDC Billawar organized One Day National Level Webinar on Gandhian Philosophy in which two keynote speakers and more than 150 participants participated.
In the beginning of the webinar Dr. Shamim Ahmed Bandey organising secretary welcomed chief guest Principal Prof. Anita Jamwal and the Keynote Speaker Prof. Rakesh Bharti, GDC Jourian and Prof. Ashwani Kumar Dubey, Dean SK University Chatarpur (MP) and other dignitaries. The programme was organized under the supervision of college Principal Prof Anita Jamwal.
The series of events to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti culminated at GDC Thannamandi. The programme was organised under the patronage of Prof Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college. Cultural and Literary Committee in collaboration with NSS and NCC units of the college organised the programme. Mr. Bashir Ahmed Shawl life member Gandhi Global Family was the chief guest on the occasion.
NSS Units GDC Kathua celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. A symposium was organised under the patronage of Principal Prof Raj Kiran. On this occasion, a Clean India campaign was also launched in which parks in the college premises were cleaned.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kunjwani inaugurated three day celebrations programme on Gandhi Jayanti. The Programme was inaugurated by Prof Hans Raj, Principal of the college. On the occasion, various activities were conducted by the students. Besides, many students spoke on the relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the present scenario.
To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, NSS Unit of GDC Marh in collaboration with Cultural Committee, Marh organised an online slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Role of Gandhi ji in Freedom Struggle’, under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. A number of students participated in the activity with full enthusiasm.
NSS Unit in collaboration with 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC Jammu of GDC RS Pura organized an online cultural fest to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti under the guidance of the Principal Prof Sunil Uppal. On the occasion, students presented various cultural items.
Psychological Counselling Cell of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized online Quiz Competition on “Life of Mahatma Gandhi”. Around 50 students from different colleges of J&K UT participated.
Government Degree College (GDC) Jindrah started series of events under the theme ‘Har Din Paavan’ on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. The month long event was inaugurated with the ‘Swachhata Abhiyaan’ conducted in the college premises to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof Rajshree Dhar, Principal, GDC Jindrah inaugurated the event.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. The invited guests on the occasion were Pooja Malhotra Chairperson Taanish Education Trust, Brig Harcharan Singh National Administrator NCCHWO and Brijesh Babu North India Director. On this occasion, students from class 9th to 12th participated in various activities. In the end, Principal of the school Rameshwar Mengi presented vote of thanks.
On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 was organized by Government Higher Secondary School Khanna Chhargal Jammu under the guidance of the Principal Pinki Gupta in presence of staff members and locals.
Sunrise Public School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with school children in the Green Belt Park Channi Himmat Jammu. Sonu Sharma a teacher of the school hosted the function. Manpreet Kour School Founder Director was the chief guest. School children also spoke on the occasion. A competition on drawing and essay writing was also organized.
