JAMMU, Oct 1: In connection with National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2021, a blood donation camp was organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu.
The camp was organized by Department of Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College, Jammu with the help of SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology, J&K chapter, Jammu and Kashmir (UT) AIDS Prevention and Control Society, National Service Scheme.
Professor J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and Dr Shashi Sudhan, Principal, GMC Jammu were present on the occasion. The objective of the camp was to motivate people to donate blood voluntarily so as to save precious life of needy patients.
Around 49 volunteers donated blood at the camp. Dr T R Raina, former Head, GMC Jammu delivered motivational lecture on ‘Benefits of blood donation’. All the necessary arrangement for the blood donation camp was made by Dr Anil Kumar Gupta and Dr Sushma Gupta. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr Meena Sidhu, Prof and Head, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC, Jammu.
