RAJOURI, Sept 28: A middle aged woman was drowned in a river at Thandikassi village near Rajouri this afternoon.
The police identified the deceased as 47-year-old, Piplo Devi, wife of Digpal Singh, resident of Thandikassi village. The incident took place when the woman had gone to the river side for washing clothes. She slipped into the deep water while bathing and was washed away.
Later, the villagers and family members with the help of SDRF men fished out her body down stream. The police shifted the body to Rajouri hospital for postmortem and after performing legal formalities handed over to the family.
