KATHUA, Aug 30: One person was arrested today with 20 bottles of illicit liquor near Katli by Malhar police.
“A police team led by SHO police station Malhar Inspector Tariq Ahmed during special checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Katli apprehended one suspicious person namely Lalit Kumar son of Rattan Chand, resident of Rampur Rasool (tehsil Billawar) and during his checking, 20 bottles of JK Excise Whisky (illicit liquor) of 180 ml each were recovered from his possession,” a police official said.
He said all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot. “The accused has purportedly kept the illicit liquor to be sold in the adjoining area of Katli among general public to gain illegitimate profit,” he added.
“In this regard, a case vide FIR Number 24/2021 U/S 48 (e) Excise Act was registered at police station Malhar and further investigation started,” the official said, adding the arrest and seizure was made by the police team under the supervision of SDPO Billawar Arvind Kumar.
