Srinagar, Aug 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has suspended two employees of Uri Branch after over Rs 14 lakh were found missing from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of the branch.
Officials privy to the details said that the issue came to the fore after the machine was checked during maintenance. “Machine was checked after people were unable to withdraw cash from it. To our surprise, we found all the cash missing from the ATM,” an official said.
He added that the employees have been suspended over alleged negligence towards their duties and police have been intimated about the issue. “Several persons have been detained by the police for questioning,” he said.
Police officials said that the details would be shared once the investigation is complete.
Fayaz Ahmad, Manager of Branch, said that they are unaware of the development. “We do not have any information about it,” he said.
