JAMMU, Aug 7: A meeting of General Category Peoples’ Front-Jammu (GCPF-J) was held under the chairmanship of its chairman Raj Kumar Banathia for highlighting the issues confronting people.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Yash Paul Sanson, President GCPF-JK, alleged that Modi Govt was playing divisive politics by promoting caste, class and religion. He said that Modi Government has once again reversed the verdict of Supreme Court of India to sabotage the Hindus.
“Modi’s arrogant and dictatorial attitude has made the Constitution a plaything effecting amendments against the basic spirit of Constitution for communal vote-bank politics, destroying social fabric of Indian society,” said Mr Sanson while condemning alleged anti- Hindu and pro-minority mindset of Prime Minister Modi that has given birth to launch illegal discriminatory welfare schemes for the minorities.
He demanded that Government should make legal and constitutional provisions of equal rights and equal laws for all citizens and special support measures (SSM) for the poor, needy and deserving families of all castes and religions and abolish reservations, quotas, special privileges and concessions on the basis of caste and religion.
General Secy Som Nath Sharma announced that the Front will continue its struggle against discriminatory policies of the Government and in defence of people’s rights. He said that taking people for granted especially general category, the core voters of BJP, will prove fatal for the BJP. “General Category People are angry and their anger needs to be viewed seriously. There are cogent reasons to believe that anger of people is very likely to give birth to revolt against Government,’ he said and demanded that Govt should formulate economic and social policies based on the principle of equality, justice and dignity.
V K Sharma, Vice President, expressed deep concerns over the steep price-rise of essential commodities.
The other participants including, Deep Khajuria, Bhushan Pargal, Gopal Dass Verma, Surinder Kumar and Dr Bansi Lal demanded release of eighteen month arrear to employees and pensioners. They also demanded that Medical Allowance of Government employees be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 p.m.
