SRINAGAR, Aug 7: The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over Rs 70 lakh as special welfare relief and financial assistance for NoKs of deceased police personnel and SPOs who expired while in service.
The special welfare relief of Rs 60 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased police personnel SgCt Omkar Nath, SgCt Raj Singh and Ct Manzoor Ahmad who expired due to health issues while in service. Out of this amount Rs 1 lakh each has been already paid to the NoKs of deceased police personnel for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Besides, special relief of Rs 5 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased and SPOs Sudesh Kumari and Hina Jan. Out of this amount Rs 50,000 each have been already paid to the NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
Meanwhile, the DGP has also sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 1.25 lakh in favour of NoKs of a martyr, retired police personnel and a serving follower to provide succour during their hard times.
