REASI, June 3: Tightening noose around criminals, Police today arrested a notorious drug peddler who along with his absconding associate attacked the police party resulting into injuries to a cop.
Reports said that a team of Police Station Reasi was on patrolling duty at Anji Kayala Reasi when two persons upon seeing police party tried to run away. Police chased the suspects and nabbed one of them whereas the other person tried to obstruct the cops by attacking them. As one policeman was injured while intercepting the accused, the later managed to escape from the spot even as the other one was arrested.
Detained person has been identified as Arshad Hussain son of Nazir of Kayala. After the search of the detained person, six rolls of cannabis like substance were recovered from his possession. He identified his absconding associate as Sardam, son of Bashir of Kayala who had attacked the police party.
While following the laid down procedure under NDPS Act, the banned drug has been seized and sealed after taking due samples for expert opinion from Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu.
In this regards, FIR number 123/2021 has been registered in Police Station Reasi.
