SRINAGAR, May 24: Gund Mohalla village of Zangir Barath Kalan in sopore area of north Kashmir is facing worst power crisis in the last six months as Power Development Department has failed to install a 250 KV electricity transformer in the area.
The residents complained the power development department has installed over 20- transformers in last six month but none of them last for a week. They said the transformer of the area develops technical sang every now and then because of overload, “The transformers is of low capacity while the household dependent on it are more than recommended. We need 250 KV transformers in the area,” he said
They complained the village has to spend their nights in darkness due to faulty transformers, “the transformers has got damaged over 20 times from November 2020 to May 202. It depicts the incompetece of department,” a resident said, adding that the power crisis has doubled their woes in the ongoing pandemic.
The residents requested the power department and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to get them out of this power crisis.
