Srinagar, May 24: Police in Handwara today said to have arrested a person accused of rape within hours after the complaint was received.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that today Police Post Zachaldara received a written complaint from one person stating therein that his sister was raped by one person namely Parvaiz Ahmad Bajad son of Noor Din resident of Nagranar “two days ago when she went to collect firewood nearby store and thereafter threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone.”
Accordingly, police said, a case vide FIR No. 164/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated.
Police said that a special team headed by SHO Handwara was constituted to nab the accused.
The Police team after utilizing all available means and due to strenuous efforts arrested the accused person within hours of complaint received by police.
“He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Police said that the community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.
