Srinagar, May 19: The Principal Government Medical College Anantnag, Dr Showkat Jeelani today held a detailed meeting of all the senior officials including the Medical Superintendent of MMABM Hospital Anantnag.
In the meeting, a detailed review was taken by the Principal for optimal utilization of manpower and machinery to its best which is already stretched to its maximum.
“Right now GMC Anantnag has an Oxygen Generation capacity of 2350LPM apart from 200 Bulk Oxygen cylinders which are supplying medium and high flow oxygen to 120 Oxygen beds including high dependency unit (HDU),” Dr Showkat Jeelani said.
He said that due to significantly increased caseload of both RT-PCR Positive and RT-PCR negative B/L pneumonia requiring medium and high flow oxygen, the demand for Oxygen is increasing day by day, “however, as of now, all the patients who are admitted to the hospital are receiving adequate oxygen as per their Clinical requirements,” he said.
The Hospital authorities have taken up the issue of supplying more oxygen generation plants apart from Bulk type oxygen Cylinders with the government and we are hopeful that needful will be done urgently so that more oxygen beds may be added to the institution.
In the last three months, Patients admitted to the Department of medicine had an overall mortality rate was 10.8% which is lower than other institutions while the recovery rate is about 89% and the Referral rate is only 1%.
The Principal said that the hospital is trying its best to cope up with the increased caseload of RT-PCR Positive and RT-PCR negative B/L pneumonias requiring medium and high flow oxygen.
As of today, the hospital said that about 160 patients requiring medium and high flow oxygen are admitted at the hospital.
“All the emergency medicines apart from other logistics including PPE suits are available in bulk.”
