JAMMU, May 6: All J&K 1947 POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum has demanded CBI enquiry into involvement of bureaucrats and politicians in illegal mining activities in River Tawi and other flood channels for monetary benefits.
The demand was raised during a meeting of the core committee of the Forum held today under the chairmanship of Advocate Amrik Singh. Surjit Singh general secretary of Forum also attended the meeting.
At the outset of the meeting, the Forum urged upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinah to order a CBI enquiry in the extraction of mining of Sand, Bajri and stone from the River Tawi and other flood channels where huge amount is being grabbed by the bureaucrats and politicians by illegal means of mining.
The Forum elaborated that the entire tendering was conducted to outsiders with the malafide intention to pave the way to give undue benefits to outsiders where as local contractors were badly suffered and ignored in allotment process.
The members said since formation of J&K UT, the corruption scenario has beaten all the past records which is a matter of concern. They said similar is the case with the recent excise policy. “If CBI enquiry is initiated, the truth will come out and big fishes will come on surface in public domain,” they added.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting were Paramjit Singh, Ex-Corporator Inder Singh Sooden, Corporator Ward No 44 Jagjit Singh, publicity secretary Kuldip Singh and others.
