Five bovines rescued

SAMBA, Apr 23: In continuation to its drive against bovine smuggling, Samba police has foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing five animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal laid a strong vehicle checking naka at Malani-Ghagwal link road and signalled to stop a Mahindra vehicle without registration number coming via border road Kathua. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver abandoned it at few meters away from the naka point and managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer places. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 92/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
