Srinagar, Apr 8: Police today said to have thwarted a bid of black-marketing of rice in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district by seizing the consignment.
The police officials said that they received specific information that one person namely Muzaffar Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd Sayed Wani, a resident of Nadihal, has illegally procured Government rice and is repacking it into apple brand rice bags to sell it in the private open market.
“Acting on the information, a police party of police station Aragam led by SHO police station Aragam under the supervision of SSP Bandipora Mohammad Zahid and DySP HQ Bandipora Mohammad Idress raided the spot at Nadihal and recovered 26 Quintals of Govt rice alongside a stitching and weighing machine and some empty packing bags from the spot,” police said.
The police said that the accused person managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
“During preliminary investigation, it had surfaced that some FCS&CA controlled fair-price shop owners were illegally selling the government rice to the accused person, who was repacking it into Apple Brand rice bags for further selling it in the private market,” police said.
In this regard, a case FIR Number 12/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Argam and further investigations was in progress.
