Srinagar, Mar 16: The Food Safety Department today inspected two units involved in making of snacks in Anantnag and found that both the units were resorting to adulteration.
The officials said that on specific information, the food safety team Anantnag headed by designated officer Anantnag, raided the premises of M/s Abdul Hamid Ganie near Industrial estate Anchidora and M/s Suhail Ahmad Ganie at Chee Anantnag dealing with the manufacturing of different kinds of snacks.
The officials said that both the units have been put under seal after completion of all legal formalities as the unit holders were found using non-permitted synthetic dye and sindoor which can act as a potent threat to human health.
Commissioner, Food Safety, Kashmir Shakeel-ul-Rehman Rather told Excelsior that such drives would continue in the days to come and those found violating the norms would be dealt strictly as per the law.
They also said that the food business operators were carrying out business without a valid license under FSSA, 2006. “Moreover 600kgs of the suspected food commodities were seized and legal samples were procured, for analysis,” the officials said.
