Four arrested with contraband

JAMMU, Mar 16: Police arrested four persons along with contraband.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Akhnoor laid a naka at Daskal and intercepted a mini-bus bearing Registration Number JK02BN-3812.
During checking, police team recovered around 100 grams cannabis wrapped in maize covers from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Ram Lal of Noor tehsil Maira Mandrian district Jammu.
Meanwhile, on specific information, a team from Police Station Akhnoor intercepted a person near Fowara Chowk, who was found moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 8 bottles and 14 quarters of illicit liquor from the bag being carried by the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Parshotam, son of Gittan Singh of Badwal Tehsil Khour District Jammu.
He was carrying the illicit liquor for selling among the masses and to make undue profit.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
In another incident, a team from Police Station GRP Jammu arrested a man along with 1200 intoxicant capsules, 52 small packets of marihuana (ganja) each weighing about 5.5 grams, 59 intoxicant tablets and 2 liquor bottles.
The arrested person has been identified as Hushiar Singh, son of Kewal Singh, a resident of Katra. He was arrested at Railway Station Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 2/2021 under Section 8/20/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station GRP Jammu and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Railways Jammu Arif Rishu.
However, a team from Police Station Kanachack during patrolling at Chak Mani area arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered 220 grams cannabis from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Sham Lal, son of Rattan Lal, a resident of Shama Chak.
A case under FIR Number 36/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachack and investigation initiated.
Police team led by PSI Ajesh Jamwal made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Kanachack Vishav Partap Singh, SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
