Police rescues 17 bovines, seizes truck

KATHUA, Jan 31: In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society, a team of Police Station, Lakhanpur succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt in their jurisdictional area, rescued 17 bovine animals and seized the truck involved.
A police team of PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of SHO, Sanjeev Singh Chib conducted routine naka checking. During the checking, they intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration Number, JK02BU-5277 which was coming from Punjab towards Lakhanpur and was being driven by the driver namely Mohammad Yakoob, S/o Roshan Din of Tumari, teh Dinanagar ,district Gurdaspur, Punjab who was signalled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking of the vehicle, 17 bovines were found loaded being transported illegally towards Kashmir valley.
A case vide FIR No. 20/2021 U/S 188/IPC 11/PCA Act has been registered in the Lakhanpur Police Station and further investigation is underway.
