Theft case solved, accused arrested with stolen cash, fake pistol: SSP

RAMBAN, Jan 23: Banihal Police solved a theft case with the arrest of accused with over Rs 10 lakh stolen cash and fake pistol.
This was informed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman while interacting with media persons at District Police Office (DPO) here today.
Divulging the details, SSP informed that yesterday a man running a general store at main market Banihal namely Khurshid Ahmed Shah, son of Gul Mohammad Shah of main market Banihal lodged a complaint with Police Station Banihal stating that when he had gone to offer Friday prayers, his son, who was at his shop was terrorized by unidentified thief by showing his a pistol and looted the bag containing around Rs 10,54,070 cash.

Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 5/2021 under Section 382 1PC and 3/25 IAA was registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
“Special teams of Police Station Banihal were constituted and all the check points were alerted to apprehend the accused”, SSP said, adding that a team led by SHO Banihal raided at several places, took assistance of technical teams and also checked various CCTV footages.
During the raids at various places, the accused was finally arrested who disclosed his identity as Syed Zaffer Shah, son of Syed Muzaffer Shah of Yakmanpora Pattan District Baramulla. On his disclosure, police recovered all the stolen money which he had concealed in a Maruti car bearing registered no JK01J- 6137 which was parked near Railway Station chowk Banihal. Police also seized a fake pistol from the personal search of said accused, SSP informed.
The theft case was worked out under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta, Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
