POONCH, Jan 9: The police today arrested a drug peddler alongwith one kilogram of charas in Surankote area of Poonch district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Ramesh Angral said that a team headed by Deputy SP, Surankote Khaliq Hussain, under the supervision of Addl SP Poonch Khalid Amin during routine patrolling at Fazlabad, intercepted an Ecco vehicle No. JK11B- 6288 for frisking.
The driver, however, tried to escape from the spot but was nabbed. During search of the vehicle one kilogram Charas wrapped in 46 Chhallis, was recovered. He has been identified as Suleman Ahmed, son of Mohammad Khursheed, a resident of Shahdra village of Thanamandi in Rajouri district.
The co- driver identified as Mehmood Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shabir, resident of Shahdra, Thanamandi, however, managed to escape from the spot and his search was going on.
The SSP said that a case in FIR No. 07/2021 under sections 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered in Surankote Police Station in this connection.
