Doda, May 12 : Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani accompanied by MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar today conducted extensive tour of Dessa area and redressed grievances of the people besides taking stock of various ongoing developmental works.
While addressing public gatherings, Mr. Wani said that specific attention was being paid towards road connectivity in hilly and unconnected habitations in the State as percentage of road connectivity is minimal in rural areas as compared to the urban areas. The Minister also distributed cheques worth Rs. 5.5 lakh among the beneficiaries for construction/ repair of houses.
The Minister announced that work on three foot bridges over Dessa Nallah and two foot bridges over Bimna Nallah will start soon so that poor population living in these areas are benefitted.
The Minister also addressed various public gathering and redressed public grievances. Various demands were projected by the people on the occasion which include payment of land compensation of Bhagwah- Dal Draman defense road, repair/ upgradation of Beoli- Gaddi road, early completion of construction work of KGBV hostel in Bhagwah and GPS Bijarni, posting of local teaching staff in schools of the area, timely payment of MGNREA wages, tents and ration to the earthquake affected people, extension of Thanote- Mehchar road, Bhopapul- Brahamdhar road and link road from Beerbagh – Kanhal.
Mr. Wani directed BDO Bhagwah to take necessary steps and ensure payment of pending wages within 10-15 days. The Minister also directed the earthquake damage assessment teams to ensure that no deserving / affected people left out in the survey.
