SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Six persons including Block Development Officer (BDO), 4 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a police man were injured in a grenade attack in Tawheed Chowk area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district today while six persons were arrested today on charges of throwing grenades and for pasting threat posters of election boycott in Tral and Sangam areas in South Kashmir.
Militants lobbed a grenade on a CRPF party in Tawheed Chowk of Ganderabl injuring six persons including BDO.

The injured have been identified as ASI Nitbal Singh, Constable Anand Mal, Manoj Sipahi and Head Constable RN Manojan, all from CRPF’s 115 battalion, besides Head Constable of police, Mohammad Sulemaan and BDO Wakoora, Syed Nasrullah.
The area was cordoned off and searches were conducted for those responsible for the attack. However, no one was arrested.
And six persons were arrested today on charges of throwing grenades and for pasting threat posters of election boycott in Tral and Sangam areas in South Kashmir.
Police said that they along with 42RR of Army and 180 battalion of CRPF busted a militant associate network of Jaish-e-Mohammad involved in grenade throwing incidents in Tral Pulwama district and Sangam areas of Anantnag district.
“The arrested (militant) associates had been in contact with Pakistani handlers and had targeted security forces by lobbing grenades in recent past,” police said, adding “the arrested persons have been involved in pasting of threat poster of election boycott in Tral area”.
The arrested persons have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat of Larow Tral, Mohammad Amin Khan of Handoora Tral, Umer Jabar Dar of Wagad Tral, Suhail Ahmad Bhat of Dogripora Awantipora, Sameer Ahmad Lone of Darganiegund Tral and Rafiq Ahmad Khan of Handoora Tral.
Police said that they have recovered incriminating material including explosive substance from the possession of the arrested persons. Police said that case (FIR No. 99/2020 and 109/2020) under relevant Sections of law stands registered against them in Police Station Tral.
Police today said that an abortive attempt to break open Axis Bank’s ATM at Larkipora Padgampora in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was averted.
“On December 21, Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint from Branch Manager Axis Bank Larkipora Padgampora stating that during intervening night of December 20-21/2020, some unknown burglars attempted to break open AXIS Bank ATM installed at Larkipora Padgampora,” police said in a statement.
Police said that on the receipt of the written complaint of the Branch Manager, a case (FIR No 192 of 2020 under section 457,511,427 IPC) was registered and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, one person, Suhail Ahmad Bhat of Padgampora Larkipora, was arrested for his involvement”, police said.
