Refresher course in Applied Sciences begins at KU

SRINAGAR, May 7: A 3 week refresher course in Basic and Applied Sciences by Academic Staff College at University of Kashmir began here today.
The programme was formally inaugurated by KU Vice Chancellor Prof Talat who said that every effort was being made to facilitate a hassle free research at the campus for college and university teachers.
While interacting with the course participants from within and outside the State Prof Talat called for a focus on interdisciplinary approach in research and said that such courses are bound to acquaint participants with the latest and upgraded techniques and tools of research.
On the occasion, Director Academic Staff College, (ASC) Prof Farooq Fayaz informed the Vice Chancellor that ASC would organize a mega summer camp for training university and college teachers besides scholars in the month of June, July this year as a part of special UGC package.
He informed the VC that in addition to the General Orientation and Refresher Courses, which are being organized for teachers and faculty members from time to time, this summer camp will focus on specialized training courses in specialized fields of knowledge.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Aqueel Ahmad, course coordinator, said that 40 research scholars from different faculties and institutions including KU and various Degree Colleges have been selected for this 3 week course.
