JAMMU, Dec 15: The Governmet today accorded sanction to the constitution of the high power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for over seeing implementation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention and Attoricities) Act, 1989 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that Lieutenant Governor will be the Chairman of the Committee while Principal Secretary to the Govt, Social Welfare Department as Convenor of the panel. Parliament Members/ Assembly Members from these two communities will be the members of the committee besides Advisor Incharge Social Welfare Department.
The other members of the Committee will be Chief Secretary (As Advisor Incharge Home Deptt), Financial Commissioner Finance Deptt, Pr Secy to Govt Home Deptt, DGP and Director/ Dy Director National Commission for SCs/STs. The committee shall meet at least twice a year.
