Mentha oil futures fall 1.41 pc on sluggish demand

NEW DELHI, May 6:  Mentha oil prices fell by 1.41 per cent to Rs 889.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators offloaded their positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.
Adequate stocks position in the physical market following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June fell by Rs 12.70, or 1.41 per cent, to Rs 889.50 per kg in business turnover of 69 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in May lost Rs 12.10, or 1.33 per cent, to Rs 894.70 per kg in 279 lots.
Analysts said speculators offloaded their positions, driven by sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market against adequate supplies on increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade. (PTI)
