Sensex up by 44.91 pts

Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) The 30 scrip Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) rose by 44.91 points to 19,620.55 in the opening session, led by gains in metals, technology and oil & gas stocks on back of supportive cues from global peers
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) moved up by 9.75 points to 5,928.45.
The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 19,660.06 and 19,554.31 points respectively.
In broader Market both Midcap and Smallcap index were trading in
green ip by 0.53 percent and 0.85 percent respectively outpreforming
the sensex.
Amongst the Sectoral Indices, BSE Metal was the top intraday Sectoral gainer up by 1.92 percent. The other sectoral gainers weer
IT by 1.45 percent, CD by 1.35 percent, Teck by 1.18 percent, Auto
by 1.13 percent, Oil & Gas By 0.92 percent, HC by 0.38 percent, power by 0.37 percent and realty by 0.01 percent
While Bankex was the top intraday loser, down by 1.02 percent, the othe losers were FMCG by 0.49 percent and CG by 0.19 percent.
Hindalco was the Top intraday gainer in the sensex pack. Up by 3.57 percent to 101.55, the other gainers were Tata steel by 2.99 percent to Rs 320.50, Sterlite Inds by 2.74 percent to Rs 99.50, TCS
by 2.20 percnt to Rs 1450.00, Jindal steel by 2.02 percnt to RS 325.00 and Tata Motors by 1.98 percent to Rs 290.55.
While HDfc bank was the top intraday loser. Down by 1.15 percent to Rs 673.25, the other losers were ITC by 0.95 percent to
RS 327.60, ICICI Bank by 0.85 percent to Rs 1122.60, SBI by 0.59 percent to Rs 2203.40, L&T by 0.56 percent To Rs 1560.15 and HDFC by
0.36 percent to RS 851.90,
Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 953 gainers against 621 losers.
Asian markets gained momentum following better-than-expected economic data from the US. The Shanghai Composite gained 0.83 per cent, the Hang Seng was 0.95 per cent higher and the Strait Times was up 0.41 per cent.
