Narcotic smuggler held, 2 kg charas seized

JAMMU, May 5: Police today arrested a narcotic smuggler and recovered two kilograms of charas from his possession in Toph Sherkhania area, falling under the jurisdiction of Sarwal police post.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Sarwal police post led by SI Neelam Saini, under the direct supervision of officiating SSP Rajeshwar Singh laid a naka at Toph Sherkhania.
Police personnel tried to intercept a pedestrian moving suspiciously, but the accused flee from the spot, he said, adding that the accused was chased and arrested.
During checking, police recovered two kilograms of charas from his possession and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Chetan, son of Darshan Sharma of Rehari Colony.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Sarwal police station and investigation started.
