BJP trying to destroy cultural identity of J&K: Tara Chand

JAMMU, Nov 2: Former Dy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand today said that the Central Government led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to destroy the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir by selling the land to outsiders.
While addressing Congress workers at Chak Malal in Khour Sub Division today, Tara Chand said that BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu by snatching away their lands and jobs. He said that the BJP had earlier promised to securing land and jobs for the local youth but taking a U-turn it has now decided to open it for everyone which will reduce the opportunity for the locals.
Former DyCM urged upon the Central Government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with job and land security for the locals. He said that J&K has witnessed massive destruction during decade’s long turmoil and rising unemployment is a major concern. He urged the Government to secure jobs of Jammu and Kashmir for local youth.
Congress leader further said that the people of Jammu region have sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation as serving in Army is their inherited profession and it is because of this there are thousands of martyrs of Jammu region.
“Being nationalist the Government must reward them but it seems that the presence Government is trying to destroy their future as well as the cultural identity of the Dogras by selling away their land and job to outsiders”, Tara Chand added.
He also demanded special employment package for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir as the corona pandemic has rendered millions jobless and many families are at the verge of starvation. He said that it is the duty of the Government to address the unemployment issue immediately.
Prominent among those present included- Suram Singh, Prem Singh, Jagatar Singh, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Madan Lal Sharma, Ved Prakash- retired DSP, Chunni Lal and several members of MC Khour.
