JAMMU, Sept 6: Body of the daily wager employee of Power Development Department (PDD), who has allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Chenab from steel bridge in Akhnoor area yesterday, has been recovered from Garkhal area, a police official said.
The deceased was identified as Sohan Lal, son of Om Parkash of Mazdoor Basti Reshamgarh, Bakshi Nagar District Jammu.
He parked his motorcycle in the middle of the steel bridge and jumped into the river Chenab.
Soon after the incident, the divers were pressed in and his body was retrieved from the river near Garkhal area.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
Cognizance in this regard has been taken by Akhnoor Police.
