KATHUA, Sept 2: Former minister and president DCC Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma urged upon the J&K UT Administration to provide compensation to the rains and floods effected people of Billawar and Kathua area.
The former MLA Billawar, conducted 2-day tour of Billawar Assembly constituency and visited Challan, Pongran, Bhaddu, Pallan, Kishenpur villages and Billawar town and took stock of damages caused due to flash floods and heavy rains in Billawar area of Kathua district.
While speaking at different places Dr Sharma said it has been a week now but the administration has failed to reach to the people affected due to floods and rains. He urged the administration for swift action for rehabilitation and compensation to those affected.
Dr Sharma said due to heavy rain and flash flood number of damages of residential houses and major landslides have been reported in Tehsil Billawar. He alleged that administration was showing callous attitude and not taking the damages caused seriously.
He also took up the matter with DDC Kathua, ADC Billawar, XEn PMGSY Billawar and Flood Control Kathua besides Tehsildar concerned for providing compensation at the earliest. He asked for shifting of affected families to safer places and provide adequate compensation and permanent protection to affected habitations.
