JAMMU, Sept 24: The 9th Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra concluded with a valedictory function organized by National Medicos Organization (NMO), Jammu & Kashmir at GMC Jammu.
DIG Jammu Shakti Pathak, Principal GMC Jammu Dr Ashutosh Gupta and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rajeev Kumar Sharma were the chief guests of the function.
Speaking at the function, DIG Shakti Pathak recognized the efforts of NMO and others for organizing health camps in rural and border areas of J&K. He also lauded doctors from different states of India who provided their free and self-less services to people of J&K.
During the 5-day campaign, over 200 doctors and other medical staff organized free medical cum health awareness camps in border and remote areas of all the districts of Jammu Division. Total 90 camps were conducted in different regions of Jammu and a total of 7,425 people availed benefit of these camps.
In these camps, the locals were provided free medicines, besides providing free diagnostic facilities for blood sugar and BP check up. Health awareness camps were also conducted in primary schools. This year the main focus of the RKSSY was to conduct health check-ups camps and spread awareness among the rural masses about anemia/malnutrition and its causes.
The vote of thanks was given by Jammu Kashmir NMO secretary Dr Deepak Kumar, under whose supervision this Yatra was successfully conducted.
Other organizations who supported NMO in smooth conduct of camps are Seva Bharti, Seema Jagran Manch and Seva Bharti Gujarat.
