SRINAGAR, June 29: Police today said to have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam, Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Budgam, police said, a team from Police Post Waterhail at a checkpoint established at Brail Watrihail intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number JK04E-8341 with three persons on board.
“They have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Dar resident of Shoolipora, Mohammad Haleem resident of Malerkotla Sangrur, Punjab and Nadim resident of Malerkotla Punjab,” police said.
During checking, police said, team was able to recover 55 kgs of poppy straw from the vehicle. “They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station.
In Baramulla, police said, a team from Boniyar under the supervision of SDPO Uri, Junaid Wali arrested a drug peddler identified as Showkat Ahmad Pathan son of Samad Khan Pathan, resident of Trikanjan, Boniyar.
During checking, they recovered 60 grams of Brown Sugar from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station.
In Anantnag, Police Station Dooru received information through reliable sources regarding drug peddling at Mandipora.
“Accordingly a police party from Police Station Dooru headed by SHO along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During the search, 40Kgs of Poppy straw (Fukki) was recovered from the residential house of Ashaq Hussin Ganie, son of Gh Nabi Ganie,” police said.
He along with his accomplice Khursheed Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Amin Bhat resident of Arabal Dooru was arrested on the spot and has been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 66/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Dooru and an investigation has been taken up.
