JAMMU, Sept 23: Ninety five civilians from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, who were working in brick kilns and other places in the Kashmir Valley and were reported missing, were today traced in the Valley even as number of the missing persons today came down to 245 as against yesterday’s 299 as Jammu and Kashmir’s 24×7 Connect Centre has located a total of 301 missing persons so far from different parts of flood ravaged State.
The Connect Centre was making frantic efforts to trace remaining 245 missing persons.
Amit Sharma, Nodal Officer for 24×7 Connect Centre and Special Secretary Animal Husbandry Department told the Excelsior that they swung into action after getting an email from the District Magistrate Aligarh in UP that their 95 workers, 77 of whom were working in brick kilns and rest at other places, were missing in the Valley and had no connect with the family after the floods.
Sharma said after hectic efforts the Connect Centre managed to trace all 95 persons, who were safe and sound. “While some of the workers had reached their houses, others were at their work places in the Valley,” he added.
This has taken total number of missing persons trace by the Connect Centre to 301, Sharma said, adding that 245 persons including those hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and outside the State were still untraced. He said all out efforts were being made by the Connect Centre to trace the remaining missing persons.
