9 vehicles challaned, Rs 61,000 fine imposed

REASI, Feb 24:- Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi, Rajesh Gupta along with his team conducted an extensive checking from Katra to Domail route today.
During inspection, Gupta enquired from the passengers about the fare being charged. He also assured the public that strict action, as per the norms of the Motor Vehicles Act, will be initiated against the offenders.
During the extensive checking, the team challaned 9 vehicles for various violations and recovered an amount of Rs 61000 as fine on spot.
The ARTO also sensitised the drivers about Motor Vehicle Act norms and urged upon them to follow the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of the others.
During the checking of vehicles, the ARTO emphasised that traffic violation leads to road accidents and kills hundreds of people on a daily basis and added that adherence to laws can avert most of the road accidents besides making commuting hassle free.
The ARTO also organised awareness camp on Road safety at Govt Middle School Moorie. While interacting with school children, he emphasised that everyone should know about traffic norms and how & where to escalate violation of traffic rules. He also interacted with drivers as well as the general public and advised them to follow traffic norms & COVID SOPs issued from time to time.
