JAMMU, July 12: On the directions of Revenue Minister, Divisional Commissioner, Dr Pawan Kotwal today ordered transfers of two Naib Tehsildars of Bahu Tehsil of Jammu district and attachment of seven Girdawars as they had allegedly developed nexus with the land grabbers.
Official sources said that Naib Tehsildars of Bahu and Rakh Bahu namely Shabir Ahmed and Abdul Shakoor and seven Girdawars had developed nexus with some land grabbers and instead of protecting the State land they were facilitating the grabbers in encroaching upon the land.
Their nexus was brought to the notice of Revenue Minister some days back and the Minister, while taking serious note of the complaints, directed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal to remove Naib Tehsildars as well as Girdawars from their present place of postings.
Accordingly, on the directions of Divisional Commissioner, Sachin Dev Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Central) issued orders regarding transfer of two Naib Tehsildars and attachment of seven Girdawars.
Shabir Ahmed, Naib Tehsildar Bahu has been shifted to Koteranka (Kandi) Rajouri and Abdul Shakoor, Naib Tehsildar Rakh Bahu has been shifted to Rattanpur Sarara (Samba). Bashir Ahmed Malik, Naib Tehsildar Rattanpur Sarara (Samba) has been transferred and posted as Naib Tehsildar Bahu.
All the seven Girdawars working in Tehsil Bahu against one sanctioned post have been attached in the office of Divisional Commissioner. They are Bodh Raj, Girdawar BCG Tehsil Office Jammu South, Mohd Maqbool, Girdawar in the office of Settlement Commissioner, Jammu, Karam Dutt Khan, Girdawar in the office of Settlement Commissioner, Jammu, Mohammad Ashraf, Girdawar Circle Bahu, Mohammad Hanief, Girdawar with Director Land Records Jammu, Tanveer Hussain, BCG Tehsil Office Bahu and Sajjad Hussain, OQ Tehsil Office Bahu.
They have been relieved with immediate effect and conveyed that failure to report in the office of Divisional Commissioner within 24 hours will invite disciplinary action under rules.
Sources said that in order to streamline the functioning in Tehsil Bahu and to install work ethics and transparency a senior most Tehsildar from among the direct recruits has been recently posted as Tehsildar Bahu.
“This action is a message to all the field functionaries that work ethics and transparency is to be maintained at all costs and corruption and dereliction of duty will not be tolerated”, an official spokesman said.
Sources said that Revenue Department may recommend the names of erring Naib Tehsildars and Girdawars for pre-mature retirement.
