RAMBAN, Dec 12: Nine persons were injured when the Tata Sumo they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Harniyal area, falling under the jurisdiction of Khari Police Post.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK03D-1898 was on its way to Khari from Banihal, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into gorge near Harniyal area, resulting into injuries to nine persons including driver.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals started rescue operation.
All the injured persons were shifted to PHC Khari, from where all the injured persons were referred to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for further treatment.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Amin (driver), a resident of Mangit Khari, Ghulam Hassan, son of Abdul Aziz of Udhala Trigam, Abdul Hameed, son of Ali Mohammad Katoch of Halwagan Ramsoo, Jana Begam, wife of Abdul Hameed of Halwagan Ramsoo, Mohammed Mansha, son of Mohammed Ismail of Trigam, Mohammad Shafi, son of Qadir Baksh of Bawa Khari, Khateeja Begum, wife of Nazir Ahmad of Kawna, Rabia Begum, wife of Nasir Ahmad of Kawna and Tahir Ahmad, son of Ghulam Rasool Lone of Orka Khari.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
